24 Macrodiamonds Recovered From Surface Kimberlite At Churchill Project

Mini-Bulk Sampling Completed

Stornoway Diamond Corporation (SWY:TSX) and Shear Minerals Ltd. (SRM:TSXV) are pleased to report that 24 macrodiamonds have been recovered from the Notch and Jigsaw kimberlite outcrops at the Churchill Project. Following these and the previous encouraging diamond results from kimberlite PST003, mini-bulk samples with a cumulative weight of approximately 16 tonnes of kimberlite have been collected from four surface sites of kimberlite outcrop on the property. These samples will be processed for macrodiamonds.

Details of Diamond Results

A total of 778 diamonds, including seventeen macrodiamonds were recovered from a composite 104.8kg sample of kimberlite collected from outcrop at the Notch kimberlite (Sample 06JBR010) and a total of 157 diamonds, including seven macro diamonds were recovered from a composite 44.35 kg sample of kimberlite collected from the Jigsaw kimberlite outcrop (Sample 06JBR011).

Samples were submitted to the Saskatchewan Research Council Geoanalytical Laboratories accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard by the Standards Council of Canada as a testing laboratory for diamond analysis using caustic fusion. The diamonds are currently being described and all results reviewed by Mineral Services Canada. Preliminary observation describes the majority of the diamonds as clear and colorless, and dominated by octahedron shapes. Diamonds were recovered as follows:

An additional 5.8 tonnes has been collected from the Jigsaw kimberlite; 5.3 tonnes from the Notch kimberlite, 600kg from the Notch North kimberlite, and 4.3 tonnes from the PST003 kimberlite. These mini-bulk samples will be processed for macrodiamonds.

Sedna Drilling Update

To date a total of 16 holes have been drilled (1,266.5m) into 11 geophysical anomalies within the Sedna Corridor to test possible sources at the heads of the MSC-19, MSC-03 and MSC-02 pyrope indicator mineral dispersion trains. Within the MSC-19 area, nine out of ten drill holes intersected kimberlite and confirmed the presence of the Notch kimberlite dyke over a 3.0 km strike length. The drill has now been moved to the Josephine River Corridor targets. Representative samples of kimberlite have been submitted to the SRC for diamond processing.

The Churchill Diamond Project is comprised of mineral rights to more than 2 million acres located near the communities of Rankin Inlet and Chesterfield Inlet in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut. The project is owned by joint venture partners Shear, which has a 51% interest and is the operator, Stornoway (35%) and BHP Billiton (14%). To date the partners have drilled 44 kimberlites over a wide area on the Churchill and Churchill West projects. The 2006 field program is under the supervision of Jennifer Burgess, P. Geol., a Qualified Person under NI 43-101.
