Stornoway Reports Fatality In Accident On The Winter Road

Stornoway Diamond Corporation (TSX-SWY) regrets to report the accidental death of a truck driver working for a transport company in an isolated incident which occurred before midnight on March 11, 2013 on the winter road which links Route 167 to the Renard Project in the Northern Québec region.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the driver. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time,” said Matt Manson, President and CEO of Stornoway.

The truck driver was part of a convoy transporting materials to the project site when the accident occurred. Stornoway promptly notified the Sûreté du Québec and the Commission de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail du Québec of the tragic event. Stornoway is providing its support to the family and colleagues of the victim and the third party contractors involved, and will work closely with the authorities investigating the accident.
